Pop Shots – Acrobatics

Welcome to your weekly dose of pop world musings. Covering all things pop culture, this week Pop Shots is hitting you with thoughts on everything from Benson Boone flippin’ through the summer, to Afroman seeing his streams vault to new heights, to the U.S. Army flying over Kid Rock’s home, and since this is Pop Shots you know everything is seasoned with a little bit of attitude.

* Benson Boone is currently on the final dates of an international tour, but will be back on the road stateside this summer for a 34-date U.S. tour. So I guess this Benson Boone thing is going to continue to happen until he doesn’t land that flip, and an entire audience of teenage girls winds up scarred for life.

* Madonna is among the celebrities protesting an ICE Detention Center in Dilley, Texas. She only believes in separating children from their families the old fashioned way – by making adoptions of questionable legality in Africa.

* Bruce Springsteen performed at the No Kings rally in St. Paul, MN. He then returned to whatever type of heavily guarded castle you own when you have a net worth of $1.2 billion.

* Afroman saw a 500% spike in streams after his legal victory over seven Ohio police officers. Happiest about this – Afroman. Second happiest about this – Afroman’s dispensary of choice.

* Wyclef said in an interview on The Jennifer Hudson Show that he’d love to release outtakes, and freestyles from the recording process of The Fugees’ album The Score. Pras is probably all for this, as he could use the influx of funds to his commissary.

* Lizzo told the Friends Keep Secrets podcast that she kept a vow she made to herself to not have sex until she won a Grammy, which didn’t happen until 2020. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – I do not need this kind of information about celebrities’ genitals.

* Pussy Riot staged a protest outside the NYC offices of Ubiquiti, claiming the tech company’s Wi-Fi equipment is powering the Russian war against the Ukraine. Unfortunately, in NYC, there are at least four people yelling on the street at any given time, so it was less of a protest, and more of a Tuesday.

* The U.S. Army is investigating an incident involving two AH-64 Apache attack helicopters that conducted low-altitude maneuvers near Kid Rock’s home. Personally, I think it was just Sheryl Crow making sure he really did put her picture away.

That’s all for this edition of Pop Shots, but come back next Monday for more shots on all things pop.
