Pop Shots – Love Notes

Welcome to your weekly dose of pop world musings. Covering all things pop culture, this week Pop Shots is hitting you with thoughts on everything from Kesha not loving who’s been using her music, to a whole lotta people showing love to Bad Bunny, to Pink still having plenty of love for her husband, and since this is Pop Shots you know everything is seasoned with a little bit of attitude.
* Kesha was none too pleased to discover her song “Blow” was used without her consent in a TikTok posted to the White House’s account last month. Of course, one of the song’s producers was probably all for the use of a woman without her consent.
* Shakira had a record 400,000 people attend her free concert at the Zócalo in Mexico City, the largest audience ever to have assembled there. Sooo it sounds like my invite for a living room concert probably isn’t going to happen unless I expand the potential capacity just a bit. Any ideas on how I can Feng Shui an extra 399,988 places to sit? Bob’s Discount Furniture, don’t fail me now!

* Never one to miss an opportunity to line her pockets, Taylor Swift announced a limited 7-inch record of her song “Elizabeth Taylor” for Record Store Day (April 18th). Her fan base can’t wait to line up to buy that, and only that, destroying the entire concept of the day.
* The When We Were Young festival will not be happening in 2026. There is no word on what kind of cars, or houses pop punk and emo fans will buy with the money saved not buying tickets.
* Sharon Osbourne is planning to revive Ozzfest as a touring festival in 2027. With Ozzy no longer with us, I have a suggestion for who could put the Oz in Ozzfest …

* Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show set a global viewership record with 4.157 billion views in its first 24 hours. There’s no word on how many of those views were by government officials trying to figure out a way to deport everyone involved, only to then find out Puerto Rico is actually an American territory.
* A book on the boy band One Direction titled A Whole Lotta History: One Direction and the Sound That Shaped a Generation will be coming out in November. Hey, that’s just enough time for their fan base to learn how to read!
* Pink shut down rumors that she and husband Carey Hart were separating. For everyone who thought they suddenly had a chance with Pink …
That’s all for this edition of Pop Shots, but come back next Monday for more shots on all things pop.
