Pop Shots – Decisions, Decisions

Welcome to your weekly dose of pop world musings. Covering all things pop culture, this week Pop Shots is hitting you with thoughts on everything from A$AP Rocky and Rihanna’s choice for a baby name, to Terrence Howard claiming he could’ve dated Beyoncé, to finding a new frontman for Twisted Sister, and since this is Pop Shots you know everything is seasoned with a little bit of attitude.
* RZA called it “a great honor” when he found out Rihanna and A$AP Rocky named their baby after him. Meanwhile, the families of Rihanna and A$AP Rocky are just glad they didn’t name the kid Ol’ Dirty Bastard.
* Lizzo announced she’s written a children’s book that will tell the story of how she started playing flute. I don’t think we can expect the same from Alyson Hannigan’s character in American Pie.

* During an appearance on the PBD Podcast, Terrence Howard claimed that back in the day he had the chance to date Beyoncé, but decided to try to make a move on a different member of Destiny’s Child. Not sure if I really buy that, but at least now I have a new way to spin my “I was in the same room as Mariah Carey once, but we didn’t speak to each other” story.
* On a recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Clarkson revealed American Idol never gave her the car she was promised for winning the show. Unfortunately, that’s one thing she can’t get on Wayfair.
* Lollapalooza announced Charli xcx, Lorde, JENNIE from BLACKPINK, Tate McRae and Olivia Dean will all be featured as part of this year’s lineup. It’s a far cry from what a Lollapalooza lineup is supposed to look like.

* Radiohead guitarist Ed O’Brien says that starting in 2027 the band will tour a different continent each year, performing 20 shows per tour. It’s all part of Radiohead’s goal to spread pretentiousness globally.
* Skid Row’s Sebastian Bach will be filling in as frontman for Twisted Sister for the band’s upcoming 50th anniversary tour after Dee Snider had to bow out due to health issues. Bach has to wear the outfit or it doesn’t count, right? Right???
* The Pussycat Dolls have reformed, although now they’re a trio, and announced a 53 date arena tour that will also feature Mya, and Lil’ Kim. Hey, maybe I’ll finally get a “I was in the same room as Nicole Scherzinger once, but we didn’t speak to each other” story!
That’s all for this edition of Pop Shots, but come back next Monday for more shots on all things pop.
