NYC Scene Report – Moon Walker, Georgi Freddy, & Katzin

This week’s NYC Scene Report features Moon Walker warning that “YOU’RE NEXT,” Georgi Freddy going “Back to the Start,” and Katzin feeling like a “Cowboy.”

* Brooklyn-based indie rocker Moon Walker has never been one to pull punches, and on his latest single, “YOU’RE NEXT,” he’s striking with full force, warning us about the path authoritarians take to ideological power.

The foreboding song is off his upcoming fifth album, WASTELAND COUNTRY, which is due out May 1st.

Walker says of the project, “This album is everything that I enjoy, everything I do, and everything I am, to the highest possible extent. This is an album that I have been dreaming of making since I first discovered my favorite albums like The Wall, and The Black Parade. As a singer, guitar player, producer, songwriter, and instrumentalist this is my best foot forward in every possible way.”

He’ll be taking the album on the road for a tour with support from Demi the Daredevil, and Sarah & the Safe Word that will run from March 19th through April 19th, and pick up again May 31st through June 21st.

While waiting for him to come to a city near you, click play on “YOU’RE NEXT,” and let it inspire you to not allow us to slip into a dystopian reality.

* Georgi Freddy is a veteran of the NYC indie music scene, having played in a litany of bands, but 2026 is the year he’s stepping into the spotlight on his own.

Freddy made his solo debut recently (solo debut, backed by his band) at Baker Falls, and quickly won over the crowd. In fact, you’d never know it was the first time he performed many of the songs live.

It was, however, a new beginning for Freddy, which is why it’s apropos his debut single under his own name is titled “Back to the Start”

Modern rock with a sprinkling of classic rock influences, “Back to the Start” is a heck of a way for Georgi Freddy to kick off his solo era, and with more songs on the way throughout the year, he’s an artist you definitely need to keep on your radar.

* You don’t find a lot of cowboys in New York City, but “Cowboy” is the latest single from NYC-based artist Katzin, and the inspiration came, in part, from his boots.

It all happened while hanging out with collaborator Max Morgan, as Katzin remembers, “We sat down and wrote ‘Cowboy’ together. It felt like we were really in lockstep. It just came out so seamlessly. The kick drum on that song is actually the sound of my boots banging on the wooden deck in his backyard.”

“Cowboy” is off Katzin’s just released debut album, Buckaroo, which was released via Mexican Summer, and you can check out the animated video for the song right here.
