Pop Shots – Worldwide

Welcome to your weekly dose of pop world musings. Covering all things pop culture, this week Pop Shots is hitting you with thoughts on everything from the Juno award nominations, to the first quadruple diamond album in history, to who just surpassed The Beatles for the most #1 albums in the U.K., and since this is Pop Shots you know everything is seasoned with a little bit of attitude.

* The nominations for the 2026 Juno awards (Canada’s version of the Grammys) were announced, and Tate McRae and Justin Bieber led all artists with six nominations each. Dammit Canada, we want to forgive you for Nickelback, but you really make it hard to when you keep doing sh*t like this!

* Kanye West took out a full-page ad in The Wall Street Journal offering an apology for his years of antisemitic comments. Readers of The Wall Street Journal responded by saying – who the f*ck is Kanye West?

* Nicki Minaj appeared at a summit in support of the president, continuing her association with the current administration. This begs the question – wouldn't lighting all her money on fire be easier ... or at least quicker?

* The Eagles compilation Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 has become the first album to be certified quadruple diamond with a combined 40 million units of sales and streams. This may have something to do with the legal requirement that every white male over 40 must own it.

* 50 Cent will be producing a podcast on the life of DMX that will be hosted by Jadakiss. It’s set to be the one of the biggest things in music in 2002.

* Harry Styles announced a 30 show residency at Madison Square Garden that will run from August 26th through October 31st. Damn, that’s a longer run than Linsanity had there. Linsanity was fun, wasn’t it?

* Robbie Williams’ latest album, Britpop, became his 16th to top the U.K. albums chart, surpassing The Beatles mark of 15, and setting a new all-time record. Just to let the folks over in the U.K. know, here in the U.S. we’ve already used “The Day The Music Died” for something, so you’re going to have to choose a different phrase for this occasion.

* The Isley Brothers will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Thousands of senior citizens can't wait to have sex on it.

That’s all for this edition of Pop Shots, but come back next Monday for more shots on all things pop.
