NYC Scene Report – Scarlett Macfarlane, MX LONELY, & Turbo Goth

This week’s NYC Scene Report features Scarlett Macfarlane embracing “Winter’s Whisper,” MX LONELY not wanting an “Anesthetic,” and Turbo Goth taking listeners on a “Velvet Escapade.”
* If you’re looking for a little magic in your life, look no further than the latest single from Scarlett Macfarlane, titled “Winter’s Whisper.”
The pop meets rockabilly tune was partially inspired by Alice in Wonderland, as Macfarlane explains, “This world, life itself, is filled with fantasy. It can be all at once transformed by the cast of characters you encounter throughout your own zany story.”
She continued, adding, “I basically got to stitch tiny moments from a very famous childhood story into my own interpretation of Wonderland. It was like solving a puzzle, and making the pieces fit in a way they weren’t meant to in order to make my own image.”
“Winter’s Whisper” is part of a 15 song collection that’s being rolled out as singles, and as of yet hasn’t been labeled as an album.
Click play on the song, and dive into Scarlett Macfarlane’s magical Wonderland.
* Brooklyn-based rockers MX LONELY just released their debut album, ALL MONSTERS, via Julia’s War Recordings, the latest single off of which is “Anesthetic.”
Vocalist Rae Haas describes “Anesthetic” as, “A love song to the addict,” adding it’s, “An ode to feeling highs and lows rather than searching for something to numb the pain.”
MX LONELY should hopefully be feeling a lot of highs over the next few months, as they’ll be going all the way across the country, and back, for a tour that begins February 28th in NYC, and doesn’t wrap up until April 7th in Albany, NY.
They’ll likely be hitting a city near you at some point during that journey, and while you wait you can enjoy a dose of their “Anesthetic.”
* Turbo Goth are ready to take listeners on a “Velvet Escapade.”
The duo, who are known for tearing down stages with their incredible combination of rock, electronic music, and ambient vocals, have more of a pop feel with “Velvet Escapade,” and it’s a vibe that won’t take you long to get into.
For the video, Turbo Goth teamed up with Wanderlustproject Films, and the result is a clip that’s just as cool as the song.
“Velvet Escape” is a trip well worth taking, so click play, and let Turbo Goth be your tour guide.
