Pop Shots – Well, That’s Different

Welcome to your weekly dose of pop world musings. Covering all things pop culture, this week Pop Shots is hitting you with thoughts on everything from Foo Fighters going all-ages, to Elton John sporting a very unique piece of jewelry, to Jeezy hoping to be part of your Christmas plans, and since this is Pop Shots you know everything is seasoned with a little bit of attitude.
* Foo Fighters played their first show with new drummer Ilan Rubin this past Sunday. The concert was an all-ages show at the Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo, CA, although there’s no truth to the rumor that there was free admission for anyone who thought Dave Grohl might be their father.
* Akon’s wife, Tomeka Thiam, filed for divorce just short of the couple’s 29th anniversary. I guess he really couldn’t find the words to describe her without being disrespectful.
* In an interview with TODAY With Jenna & Friends, Cardi B revealed she would consider getting married again, and added, “I believe in love. I’m like a hopeless romantic.” Oh God, I’ve chosen a terrible time to go back on the dating apps.
* Kelsea Ballerini and Chase Stokes have broken up after nearly thee years of dating. Well then, perhaps I’ve actually chosen a good time to go back on the dating apps!

* Sabrina Carpenter was announced as one of three headliners for next year’s Coachella festival, along with Justin Bieber, and Karol G. The good news for Sabrina’s male fan base is that Coachella is so spacious that they should be able to attend while still technically not being within 500 feet of her.
* When Elton John had surgery to remove his severely damaged kneecaps, he asked to keep the pieces, which he then gave to jewelry designer Theo Fennell to turn into a necklace. File this one under – aren’t you glad I only wrote a book about my testicular cancer surgery!
* Some of the explosives used during the final segment of k-pop group SEVENTEEN’s world tour kickoff show in South Korea were defective, and fell toward the audience, resulting in injuries to two fans. Geez, shooting explosives into a crowd seems more like a North Korea move, don’t you think?

* K. Michelle released her first country single, “Jack Daniel’s.” She can expect a diss track from Jim Beam any day now.
* Jeezy will be heading to Las Vegas for four dates at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. Backed by a 101-piece orchestra, he’ll have fall-themed shows on October 31st and November 1st, and holiday-themed shows on December 19th and 21st. I just love the idea that someone’s going to go to one of those holiday shows, and think “All White Everything” is about a winter weather pattern.
That’s all for this edition of Pop Shots, but come back next Monday for more shots on all things pop.
