Pop Shots – Getting Together

Welcome to your weekly dose of pop world musings. Covering all things pop culture, this week Pop Shots is hitting you with thoughts on everything from a new addition for a member of Lady A, to unique collabs for Kesha, Rick Ross, and Jack Black, to a reunion for Gene Simmons, and since this is Pop Shots you know everything is seasoned with a little bit of attitude.

* Lady A’s Charles Kelley, and his wife Cassie, announced they’re expecting their second child. They reportedly can’t wait to give it a name they’ll later change while pretending the original name was offensive.

* Maren Morris announced her fourth studio album, Dreamsicle, will be released on May 9th. Personally, I can’t wait for the follow up, Bubble O’Bill.

* Ozzy Osbourne confirmed he'll perform from a throne for Black Sabbath’s farewell show. I don’t really consider this news, as it’s pretty typical of men his age to announce when they’re about to sit on the throne.

* Kesha released her first single of 2025, a collaboration with T-Pain titled “Yippee-Ki-Yay.” John McClane would just like to add, “Motherfucker.”

* During a recent show in Mexico City, Zayn Malik performed a One Direction song for the first time since leaving the group a decade ago. I guess he wanted to perform something people might actually recognize.

* Rick Ross’ hustle has led him to the dental world, as he’s become a business partner with Dr. Mario Montoya, whose Smiles by Mario Montoya provides cosmetic dentistry services, and porcelain veneers. Sounds like Rick Ross is another satisfied client of Wu-Tang Financial.

* Speaking of interesting collaborations, Jack Black teamed with Dave Grohl for the Minecraft soundtrack song “I Feel Alive.” I guess it makes sense that Grohl would want to be on the soundtrack to a movie for kids at the rate he’s been producing children.

* Miley Cyrus will be releasing what she calls a “pop opera” titled Something Beautiful in May, with the visual version of the album hitting theaters in June. I just hope a similar amount of drugs were used in creating the visual version as were used in creating The Who’s film version of Tommy.

* KISS, which had their “final” live show just 15 month ago, will be back on stage for an “unmasked” concert as part of a three-day KISS Army Storms Vegas event in November. This event will reunite Gene Simmons with his first love – lots of money.

* Garbage will be touring the U.S. for the first time in nearly a decade. The 31-city tour will kick off September 3rd in Orlando, and since it’s traditionally clear skies there, chances are Shirley Manson will be really f*cking bummed.

That’s all for this edition of Pop Shots, but come back next Monday for more shots on all things pop.
