NYC Scene Report – Fusilier, Morgan Saint, & Moon Sand Land

This week’s NYC Scene Report features Fusilier setting up an Ambush, Morgan Saint feeling “15 Forever,” and Moon Sand Land ready to play a little “Table Tennis.”
* Brooklyn-based rock artist Fusilier will be releasing his debut album, Ambush, on March 28th via IS NOT MUSIC, and the latest single off the project is the hard hitting “Nightmare Muscle.”
An autobiographical song with roots in pop-punk, and alt-rock, Fusilier explained the inspiration for “Nightmare Muscle,” saying, “It takes a special kind of strength not to waste away into nothing given the horrors of the world, and the horrors of our aging bodies and minds.”
There’s no way anyone will waste away with “Nightmare Muscle” playing, because it’s a jump up and down, bounce off the walls, shout along with, gem that’s sure to be a crowd favorite when Fusilier performs it live.
Click play, and enjoy the sonic shot of adrenaline.
* Morgan Saint is another scene favorite with a debut album on the way, as her first full-length effort, Out Of The Blue, will be released on February 14th (wait, does that make her Saint Valentine?).
The latest single from the project is “15 Forever,” a beautiful, melancholic pop song that she co-wrote with her wife, Carley Ridersleeve (for more on their influence on each other’s music check out our interview from last year).
Discussing the song in a statement, Saint said, “When I was 15 my close friend committed suicide, and it just rocked my world. In a flash, my universe cracked right open, and I fell in deep. At the same time, I was struggling with my sexuality, and gender identity. I was so young and contemplating life on an intense level. That period was a really pivotal moment in my life, and I wanted to make a song that reflected those experiences and emotions that are still very alive in me.”
Turning tumult into something tender, with “15 Forever” Morgan Saint once again tugs at our emotions, which is something she has become incredibly adept at doing.
* Brooklyn-based band Moon Sand Land are ready to play a little Table Tennis. Table Tennis being the name of their upcoming EP, which is due out February 20th.
The band describes the EP, saying it “explores the dichotomy of self-discovery in a chaotic, transient environment.” After you hear the inviting bass line of the project’s title track, you’ll describe it as a highly enjoyable ride.
Gold medal worthy indie rock, “Table Tennis” has Moon Sand Land poised for a huge 2025. Check out the video for the song, and even if you aren’t good at table tennis, don’t worry, you can always use the table for beer pong (that’s gotta be the b-side, right?).
