NYC Scene Report – Jessie Wagner, B.Miles, & Emily Frembgen
This week’s NYC Scene report features Jessie Wagner feeling like “I Just Can’t Today,” B.Miles on the verge of making a “Bad Decision,” and Emily Frembgen looking to take her own good advice.
* We all have times when we feel like life is just a bit too much, but with her latest single, titled “I Just Can’t Today,” Jessie Wagner flips a tough day into something that will put you a great mood.
Wagner discussed the jovial, soulful song in a statement, saying, “‘I Just Can't Today’ came about when I was having one of those ‘I can’t get it right’ days. I allowed myself some grace. Sometimes you need a moment to take a deep breath, lose yourself in a mindless Netflix comedy, and regroup. That’s what this song is about – giving yourself the courtesy to start again.”
Having a rough one? Reboot your day with Jessie Wagner, and “I Just Can’t Today.” It’s the perfect panacea for the everyday pressures of life.
* B.Miles is thinking about making a “Bad Decision.” “Bad Decision” being the name of her latest single, which is all about finding yourself in a position to hook up with an ex, knowing you shouldn’t act on it, but contemplating it regardless.
Hey, we’ve all been there … and if you haven’t, you will be at some point!
An indie pop song featuring vocals where you can really feel the mental back and forth B.Miles is going through, “Bad Decision” was released just before she hit the road for a string of dates supporting Circle of the Sun on their current tour.
Missed her when she came to your town? Don’t worry, you can still make the good decision of clicking play on the very cool animated video for “Bad Decision,” and then perhaps contemplate a potential bad decision of your own that could be fun in the moment, but regrettable in the long run.
* Emily Frembgen will be releasing a country-tinged indie-folk album titled No Hard Feelings this Friday via Don Giovanni Records, but first she needs to know “Are You Listening?”
The lead single from the album, “Are You Listening?” is a question she’s asking to herself. She explained the inspiration for the song, which features wonderfully warm vocals, in a statement, saying, “When you don’t have much family you cling onto friendships for dear life. This song was me reminding myself to not give up, and what Bruce Martin came up with on piano, inspired by Warren Zevon’s ‘Carmelita,’ is the coolest touch.”
Click play on “Are You Listening?” and let Frembgen’s reminder to herself serve as a reminder to all of us that we’re all trying our best out there, and to keep pushing forward.
