Vid Pick: Johnny Volitk - #WORLDSTAR
Friday, November 15, 2013

As I find myself listening to less and less hip-hop, I appreciate artists like Johnny Voltik more and more. He’s the kind of artist who convinces me there’s still new ground to be broken in hip-hop, and a reason to keep listening. Johnny Voltik is different, but he’s different in a good way, and in an authentic way. He’s not actively trying to be different to sell an image, he’s actually different, and uses his unique creative ideas to create actual, boundary pushing art. Clicking play on his latest, “#WORLDSTAR,” will give you all the evidence you need to know he’s a true artist who isn’t afraid to take chances with sound, lyrics, and visuals.

Side Note: “#WORLDSTAR” is the kind of song that merits repeat listens, and clocking in at around two minutes, it’s an easy song to give repeat listens to.
