Pop Shots – Key Losses

Welcome to your weekly dose of pop world musings. Covering all things pop culture, this week Pop Shots is hitting you with thoughts on everything from NewJeans losing their court battle, to Morrissey losing his energy, to a rap battle where we’re all the loser, and since this is Pop Shots you know everything is seasoned with a little bit of attitude.
* A judge ruled against k-pop group NewJeans in their effort to leave their label, ADOR, following the firing of ADOR’s former CEO, who was also group’s mentor. There is no truth to the rumor that NewJeans will protest the ruling by changing their name to Jorts.
* Demi Lovato notched her first #1 album on Billboard’s Top Dance Albums chart, with her latest LP, It’s Not That Deep, debuting in the top spot. Upon hearing this, Taylor Swift announced she’ll be releasing 47 dance variants of The Life of a Showgirl.
* Morrissey canceled two concerts in Mexico due to what his promoter called “extreme exhaustion.” To be fair, Morrissey seems like a really exhausting person to be around, and he has to be around himself all the time!

* Lauren Daigle and Jordan Davis will be hosting the 16th annual CMA Country Christmas holiday special, which will air December 2nd on ABC. Aw, c’mon CMAs, you always celebrate Christmas, when will we finally get a Hanukkah Hootenanny?
* During an episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show, Megan Thee Stallion and Jennifer Hudson said they often get mistaken for each other. I’m sorry, but even Stevie Wonder can tell those two apart just by looking at them.
* NLE Choppa, who apparently now goes by the name NLE the Great, released a diss track titled “KO” that’s aimed at NBA YoungBoy. This is like Kendrick Lamar vs. Drake, except absolutely nobody cares.

* Carly Rae Jepsen, who just got married last month, announced she’s pregnant with her first child. Looks like her husband did more than just call her!
* Next year’s Download Festival, which will take place June 10th through 14th in Donington Park, Leicestershire, will be headlined by Guns N’ Roses, Linkin Park, and Limp Bizkit. Of course, there’s always a chance GNR won’t be talking to each other by then, Linkin Park’s lead singer will have joined another cult, and Limp Bizkit will suddenly have to perform a 53 minute version of “Nookie.”
That’s all for this edition of Pop Shots, but come back next Monday for more shots on all things pop.
