Pop Shots – Unlikely Partners

Welcome to your weekly dose of pop world musings. Covering all things pop culture, this week Pop Shots is hitting you with thoughts on everything from Rosalía cozying up with a serpent, to Megan Thee Stallion teaming up with a mariachi band, to 50 Cent and Cam’ron working together, and since this is Pop Shots you know everything is seasoned with a little bit of attitude.
* Grammy-winning Spanish artist Rosalía stars in Calvin Klein’s new underwear ad campaign, where she is joined by an albino Burmese python. Geez, first one gets draped over Britney Spears’ shoulders at the VMAs in 2001, now one gets to be all over Rosalía for an underwear campaign … I suddenly feel like I need to find a way to make the albino Burmese python my new spirit animal.
* Megan Thee Stallion’s legal team allegedly used a mariachi band to play outside Kick streamer Adin Ross’ home to bait him into coming outside to be served court papers. In a related story, my new preferred method of communication is “via mariachi band.”

* Fat Joe claims his feuds with 50 Cent, and Jay-Z cost him sneaker deals with multiple prominent companies. Yeah, because that’s just what the world needed, a Gasping For Air Jordan.
* GloRilla became the third female rapper in history to have six songs reach #1 on Billboard’s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. She joins Cardi B, and Nicki Minaj in this exclusive club. This is also proof that “exclusive” doesn’t necessarily mean “good.”

* Hilary Duff is headed back into the recording studio for the first time in ten years. She has a new deal with Atlantic Records, and there will be a docuseries on the relaunch of her musical career. I think the documentary we really need is on how she survived being a Disney child star, and somehow grew up to be a normal, well-adjusted adult. THAT would be must-see TV!
* The MTV Video Music Awards had its largest TV audience in six years. Of course, since it aired on CBS, the majority of that audience was senior citizens who fell asleep watching 60 Minutes.

* 50 Cent has purchased the rights to the 2002 movie Paid in Full, and is planning on turning it into a TV series. Former rival, Cam’ron, who played Rico in the movie, is reportedly already on board. This proves that while money can’t buy happiness, it sure can squash a beef.
* The Eagles have added four more dates to their Las Vegas residency at the Sphere, bringing their total to 48 shows at the venue. I guess the Hotel California isn’t the only place they can never leave.
That’s all for this edition of Pop Shots, but come back next Monday for more shots on all things pop.
