Pop Shots – Something Unexpected

Welcome to your weekly dose of pop world musings. Covering all things pop culture, this week Pop Shots is hitting you with thoughts on everything from YoungBoy Never Broke Again losing random tour dates, to a body being found in D4vd’s trunk, to attempting to predict Katy Perry’s next musical venture, and since this is Pop Shots you know everything is seasoned with a little bit of attitude.

* YoungBoy Never Broke Again is on his first-ever headlining arena tour, but a recent stop in Chicago was canceled by the United Center with zero explanation as to why. Too many cancellations like that and YoungBoy Never Broke Again may not be able to live up to the second half of his name.

* Harry Styles ran the Berlin Marathon in under three hours (by 47 seconds!). There is no truth to the rumor, however, that the reason his time was so impressive was because Olivia Wilde was chasing him the entire time.

* Singer D4vd cancelled his world tour following the discovery of a deceased teenage girl in the trunk of his car. Chris Brown now can’t wait to collaborate with D4vd, and maybe even work on some music together, too.

* Maren Morris debuted a song titled “Beat The Devil” in the trailer for the new CBS series Sheriff Country. With her brand new CBS audience, Maren might want to consider an AARP discount on tickets for her next tour.

* A stabbing outside a Phish concert in Virginia left one person was dead, and two others injured. This reminds me of the old Dr. Suess book – One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, how the f*ck do you get stabbed at a Phish concert?

* Zayn Malik announced a seven-night Las Vegas residency that will take place at Dolby Live at Park MGM beginning January 20th of next year. Fans reportedly can’t wait to hear one-fifth of all their favorite One Direction songs.

* Tyler, The Creator told fans that he plans on taking a very long break, and that his current tour may be his final one. His extended hiatus is expected to last until the exact moment he wants money again.

* In an Instagram post on the one year anniversary of the release of her album 143, Katy Perry wrote, among other things, “Whatever comes next, I’m letting it unfold naturally. No forcing, no controlling – just trusting the angels, the fans, and the music to guide me where I’m meant to go.” She should watch out for the angels, because she could have one on her shoulder whispering “country,” with another on her other shoulder whispering “nu metal.” OK, so maybe the second angel is really a devil, but I’m already envisioning “Katy” in the Korn font. Plus, she’s done it before!

That’s all for this edition of Pop Shots, but come back next Monday for more shots on all things pop.
