Pop Shots – Relationship Statuses

Welcome to your weekly dose of pop world musings. Covering all things pop culture, this week Pop Shots is hitting you with thoughts on everything from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement, to the VMAs coming for your grandparents, to Snoop Dogg questioning what the youth should see, and since this is Pop Shots you know everything is seasoned with a little bit of attitude.

* Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced they are now engaged. Personally, I feel this calls for a reunion of the cast of Catching Kelce.

* Kanye West claimed his Instagram was hacked following the launch of his YZY Money meme coin. Unlike most hacking incidents, in Kanye’s case you can tell he’s been hacked when he stops posting horrifically bigoted things.

* The 2025 VMAs will be hosted by LL Cool J, and air live on CBS this coming Sunday. The network expects high ratings in the initial hour from senior citizens who think they’re watching a random episode of NCIS: Los Angeles.

* Morgan Wallen went 14 minutes past curfew at his recent show at Gillette Stadium, resulting in a fine of $15,705 (25 cents per person in attendance). Fourteen minutes??? Geez, that’s a lot of extra racial slurs for one set.

* The KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack set a record with four songs from the album occupying spots in the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, a first for any soundtrack. It’s also the best showing from a fictional musical act since these guys …

* Ice Spice teased an upcoming single that features a sample of M.I.A.’s “Bad Girls.” In a related story, Ice Spice is still alive.

* Lil Nas X was hospitalized for a potential drug overdose after being found nude walking the streets of L.A., and charging at police officers. As a result of the incident he’s currently facing three felony counts of battery with injury on a police officer, and one count of resisting an executive officer. Damn, who could’ve ever predicted the guy who sold sneakers that had a drop of human blood in them, and were named Satan Shoes, wasn’t doing alright?

* During a recent podcast interview Snoop Dogg said he’s scared to take his grandchildren to the movies because they may see gay characters, and he’s unable to explain those relationships to them. What’s the problem, Snoop? Is it the monogamy? It’s gotta be the monogamy, right?

That’s all for this edition of Pop Shots, but come back next Monday for more shots on all things pop.
