NYC Scene Report – Alexa Dark, Public Circuit, & Cafuné

This week’s NYC Scene Report features Alexa Dark getting “Dangerous,” Public Circuit taking certain emotions “To The Grave,” and Cafuné losing a “Temporary Lover.”
* Sultry indie pop, Alexa Dark be thy name!
The latest from Ms. Dark is something “Dangerous,” and with the way she’s singing lyrics like “Left my morals at the door,” which is the song’s suggestive opening salvo, there’s a pretty good chance that after giving it a listen you’ll be up to take a few risks.
On social media Alexa said the song part two of three, cryptically adding, “the story is coming together.”
This is a story I want to hear the rest of! Until we get the conclusion, however, we’ll have to be like Darkwing Duck, and get “Dangerous” with Alexa Dark.
* NYC electronic post-punk band Public Circuit will be releasing a new album, titled Modern Church, on September 12th, and based on the latest single from the project, they have some things they’ll be taking “To The Grave.”
The band discussed “To The Grave,” which features dark synths reminiscent of Depeche Mode, saying, “Life is frail – Many people live a life where they never fully resolve trauma, hatred, etc., and, therefore, take it to the grave with them. Whether it be childhood trauma, gender expression / exploration, or failed romances; this song is inspired by moments left unresolved or, otherwise, unspoken.”
Public Circuit will be creating plenty of good moments this fall, as they’ll be hitting the road for a U.S. tour that will run from September 3rd through the 26th, followed by an international tour from October 2nd through the 27th.
Of course, you can also hear them right now by clicking play on “To The Grave.”
* Brooklyn-based duo Cafuné have teamed up with Riovaz for a driving synth-pop song about a “Temporary Lover.”
Discussing their artistic teaming in a statement, Cafuné’s Noah Yoo said, “We first learned about Riovaz a few years ago after he covered one of our tunes, and were instantly drawn to his unique style of yearning club music. I was listening to him a lot when we wrote ‘Temporary Lover,’ so to have him be a part of the final record feels full circle.”
“Temporary Lover” is off Cafuné’s upcoming album, Bite Reality which is due out September 12th, and they’ll be touring the U.S. in support of the project from September 19th through October 22nd, with the finale being a hometown show at Music Hall of Williamsburg.
While waiting for the album, and the tour, consider giving “Temporary Lover” a permanent spot in your playlist.
