Pop Shots – Bad Vibes

Welcome to your weekly dose of pop world musings. Covering all things pop culture, this week Pop Shots is hitting you with thoughts on everything from a cruel ending for a Taylor Swift themed guitar, to Billie Joe Armstrong not making any friends in Vegas, to Ticketmaster finding a new enemy in Oasis, and since this is Pop Shots you know everything is seasoned with a little bit of attitude.

* A man in Ellis County, TX, went viral after spending $4,000 at an auction for a guitar bearing Taylor Swift’s likeness, only to then immediately destroy it. The money went to a non-profit organization, while the man probably is no longer allowed in any local Guitar Center.

* Jack Antonoff confirmed he’s collaborating with Lana Del Rey on her upcoming country album Lasso. I guess this means it’s going to be boring.

* Chappell Roan ascended to #1 on Billboard’s Artist 100, and Top Album Sales chart for the very first time. You can be sure this news makes her absolutely f*cking miserable.

* Green Day saw their music banned by two Las Vegas radio stations after frontman Billie Joe Armstrong went on a tirade regarding his Oakland A’s moving to Sin City, calling Vegas, “The worst sh*thole in America.” Geez, maybe we shouldn’t have woken him up at the end of last month.

* Morgan Wallen made a $500,000 donation to the Red Cross for Hurricane Helene relief through his Morgan Wallen Foundation. Since it was through his own foundation, it’s probably only going to white people.

* Chris Brown is about to have his extensive abusive past aired in a documentary on Investigation Discovery titled Chris Brown: A History of Violence, which is set to air on October 27th. Diddy expects it to be the feel good movie of the fall.

* BLACKPINK’s ROSÉ announced her solo album, rosie, will be released on December 6th. I’m sure it will be riveting.

* Phish will be back at MSG for their annual New Year’s Eve run, December 28th through the 31st. Their one song will last the entirety of the four nights.

* Oasis will not be using Ticketmaster’s dynamic pricing for their 2025 North American shows, calling it an “unacceptable experience for fans.” It seems like Oasis has finally found something they hate more than each other, and it’s something the rest of us can’t stand either. Look at you, Ticketmaster, bringing people together with your awfulness.

* Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” which is a country version of J-Kwon’s 2004 song “Tipsy,” has now spent 12 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. I’m now wondering which will be the next rap song from 2004 randomly turned into a country tune. My vote is for “Knuck If you Buck.” C’mon Miranda Lambert, you know you wanna give it a try!

That’s all for this edition of Pop Shots, but come back next Monday for more shots on all things pop.
