Pop Shots – Fashion Choices

Welcome to your weekly dose of pop world musings. Covering all things pop culture, this week Pop Shots is hitting you with thoughts on everything from Rihanna’s concerning t-shirt, to which artists will no longer be wearing wedding rings, to how you can find yourself in Rick Ross’ clothes, and since this is Pop Shots you know everything is seasoned with a little bit of attitude.

* Rihanna sent her fan base into hysterics when she was seen wearing a t-shirt that read, “I’m Retired.” She quickly clarified that it was just a t-shirt, not a statement about her career. Somewhere there’s a guy wearing a “Free Mustache Rides” t-shirt that can’t understand why he isn’t eliciting such fervor.

* BTS member Jin has completed his mandatory 18-month South Korean military service. The other six members of BTS are still currently enlisted, so the South Korean army will continue working on their choreographed dance moves until the boy band members’ service time ends in June of 2025, at which point a Dance Dance Revolution the likes of which we’ve never seen will be unleashed upon the world.

* Billy Ray Cyrus filed for divorce from Firerose after seven months of marriage. The 62 year old Cyrus cited “irreconcilable differences,” and “inappropriate marital conduct” as his reasons for filing for divorce from the 37 year old. When it comes to the latter allegation, I gotta say, getting hitched to someone 25 years your junior seems like the REAL inappropriate marital conduct.

* In more divorce news everyone should’ve seen coming, Tory Lanez’s wife, Raina Chassagne, filed for divorce after less than a year of marriage, although their relationship covered much more time than that as they have a seven year old son. Lanez is currently serving a ten year prison sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion, so chances are he’ll be shooting his shot with more women once he gets out. Did I say with more women? I meant to say at more women. He’ll be shooting his shot at more women once he gets out.

* Flavor Flav – a week after buying Red Lobster’s entire menu in an effort to help save the company – has officially teamed up with the restaurant chain to voice their new Crabfest commercial. Based on the cast of Flavor of Love, I think we all know how much he likes crabs.

* Metro Boomin launched a new comic book series titled The Metroverse. I’m sorry, but The Metroverse sounds like being stuck in an endless loop of riding New York City public transportation, and that hits a little too close to home for me.

* Rick Ross will be hosting a two day charity auction on June 25th and 26th. Named Push It to the Limit, the auction will feature 800 items from his personal collection of sneakers, clothing, and art, and thanks to Ross teaming up with Creative Collective NYC, a portion of the proceeds will go to the Boss Up Grant, which supports Black creatives, and entrepreneurs. Turning Rick Ross’ old clothes into the funding you need for your startup? Now that’s a true rags to riches story!

* Our Lady Peace, and Shania Twain headlined the Rogers Festival at the Final concert series in Edmonton. The shows took place outside Rogers Place before Game 3 (Our Lady Peace) and 4 (Shania Twain) of the NHL Stanley Cup Final. I’ll say this, if there’s video of a group of drunken hockey fans singing about how much they feel like a woman it would be a hell of a win for Pride Month.

That’s all for this edition of Pop Shots, but come back next Monday for more shots on all things pop.
