NYC Scene Report – Best Ex, Michael Incognito, & CARRTOONS

This week’s NYC Scene Report features Best Ex making a vow with “I Promise to Ruin Your Life,” Michael Incognito helping everyone “Let Loose,” and CARRTOONS teaming up with Rae Khalil to search for some “GRACE.”

* Best Ex is back to ruin your life, but trust me when I say you’re going to enjoy the experience.

Maybe that’s because “I Promise to Ruin Your Life” is the recently released single from the band’s full length debut, With a Smile, which will be out on October 6th via Iodine Recordings/Alcopop! Records.

The indie pop project of Mariel Loveland, formerly of Candy Hearts, she explained the inspiration for the Best Ex single in a statement, saying, “I write so many songs about heartbreak, but this time around I just wanted to write something about that light, hopeful feeling of meeting a stranger you just absolutely adore.”

Don’t let Best Ex be a stranger to your ears, click play on “I Promise to Ruin Your Life.” I promise it will liven up your day.

* Michael Incognito is ready to “Let Loose,” with “Let Loose” being the first single off his upcoming EP of the same name.

I don’t have a lot of information about the project yet, but what I do know is the single is a dance floor ready anthem that will undoubtedly get crowds moving long after the sun goes down.

So let loose to “Let Loose” as we await the EP.

* New York-based multi-instrumentalist and producer CARRTOONS will be releasing his next album, titled SATURDAY NIGHT, on October 6th via Wichita Recordings, and the lead single is full of “Grace.”

A soulful jam featuring the vocals of frequent collaborator Rae Khalil, “Grace” has the excellent message of – “Have grace / For your people / Love is the only sure thing.”

CARRTOONS will be bringing this smooth groove, and the rest of SATURDAY NIGHT, on the road with him this October for a tour with Butcher Brown, but you can feel a little “Grace” right here.
