Vid Pick: Ryan-O'Neil - Brooklyn Bound
Friday, April 04, 2014

Some of the most common complaints of longtime New Yorkers revolve around what's become a Brooklyn. Intense gentrification has turned the borough into a haven for hipsters, hipsters who will probably soon be on their way out as rent prices continue to rise at a rapid rate. There are still parts of Brooklyn, however, that are authentic, and beautiful, and that's where you'll find Ryan-O'Neil.

Last week I chronicled Ryan-O'Neil's journey from being an emcee (who was an Artist Of The Week here back in 2007) to a folk rock singer-songwriter, and his successful efforts to teach himself how to play the guitar with one hand. This week I have the first video from his self-titled EP. The clip is for "Brooklyn Bound," and in the video O'Neil takes listeners through Brooklyn, his Brooklyn, as a tour guide with a song to play, and a soul to show.
