Vid Pick: Toussaint Morrison - Roosevelt Roosevelt
Friday, March 14, 2014

If you've hit up this site on any sort of a regular basis over the past few years you know it isn't much of a secret that I'm a fan of Toussaint Morrison's work. An an emcee, and singer, he makes the kind of music I truly appreciate, intelligent hip-hop that's also humorous, and is replete with pop culture, and fringe culture, references. His latest single, "Roosevelt Roosevelt," is a bit more serious, but he maintains the entertainment factor, as he tackles racial, and educational, politics without being preachy, and even throws in a Sting reference for all the pro wrestling fans out there. One of my favorite lines comes early in the song, when he says, "Ignorance is a bitch, but it won't stop you from texting her." It's a great example of Toussaint Morrison at his best.

Give "Roosevelt Roosevelt" a spin, and download the album it's off of on bandcamp.
