Vid Pick: Gif the Griot - Live Sessions Freestyle
Friday, January 31, 2014

Gif the Griot is one of the most talented, and intellectual, emcees in NYC, and late last week I was extremely excited by the news that he’s decided to start posting performances of his songs on a regular basis under the heading #livesessions. The first live session is a quick freestyle that shows, in around 90 seconds, everything that makes Gif a special emcee. His skills, his flow, his subject matter, and his delivery are all packaged together into this clip, and I don’t think I’m going out on that far of a limb when I say it won’t even take you the full video to become a fan, and want to hear more. As an added bonus, the blanket he uses as a backdrop for this clip is completely badass (seriously Gif, that thing is awesome!).
