K. Gaines is known in NYC's indie hip-hop scene as a bit of a wild man. Heck, his latest album, which was produced by 2 Hungry Bros, is titled Rumspringa: the Wildman Chronicles.
That said, K. Gaines also has an intellectual side, and with his latest single, "Neon Black," the wild man shows he's also a wise man.
In a statement, K. Gaines said of the song, and video, "Racial tensions with police are at an all time high in America. 'Neon Black' addresses these issues, and is the soundtrack to today's generation on the frontlines of justice. It will guide you through your frustration in these turbulent and trying times."
K. Gaines is wild, and wise. Quite the impressive combination, for quite the impressive emcee.
B-Listers are a select group of artists that were featured in my Artist Of The Week series that ran every Monday from April of '06 to April of '11. All of these artists have two things in common; extreme talent, and a flight path far too under the radar for my liking. They took on the title of B-Listers as they embraced being featured by me, Adam B. Check out the AOTW Archives for all the interviews.
