Vid Pick: Kev Sez - Whiskey Icarus
Friday, May 09, 2014

Kev Sez's First Attempt at a Second Chance was one of the first hip-hop albums of 2014 to really grab my attention (it's why I interviewed him for RapReviews). The combination of Kev's extensive vocabulary, and incredibly honest and raw life stories, captivated me. It also certainly doesn't hurt that he makes sure listeners can understand every word he says.

The latest single off of First Attempt at a Second Chance is "Whiskey Icarus," an alcohol soaked tale that's a complete 180 from the "pop bottles" type of songs many hip-hop fans are used to hearing in regards to libations. Kev Sez dives deep into the bottle, and what he sees there... well, it isn't a party with models on a yacht.

Check out the video for "Whiskey Icarus," which is really well done, and if you dig it, you can pick up First Attempt at a Second Chance on Kev Sez's bandcamp page, where he's currently selling it for "name your price."

B-Listers are a select group of artists that were featured in my Artist Of The Week series that ran every Monday from April of '06 to April of '11. All of these artists have two things in common; extreme talent, and a flight path far too under the radar for my liking. They took on the title of B-Listers as they embraced being featured by me, Adam B. Check out the AOTW Archives for all the interviews.
