Pop Shots – Getting a Good View

Welcome to your weekly dose of pop world musings. Covering all things pop culture, this week Pop Shots is hitting you with thoughts on everything from a unique concert experience from Megan Thee Stallion, to the real shock of the Aftershock Festival, to the Foo Fighters’ film flop, and since this is Pop Shots you know everything is seasoned with a little bit of attitude.
* Megan Thee Stallion has teamed up with AmazeVR for a first-ever virtual reality concert tour. Confused? So am I. Apparently the 10-city tour will kick off in April, and fans will attend shows by going to local theaters, and putting on VR headsets. With everyone feeling like they’re in their own little world while watching Meg, local law enforcement officials can’t wait to rack up record numbers of arrests for public indecency.
* Lindsay Lohan is the latest celebrity to join TikTok. Sooo, 35 years old, and on TikTok? Ironic that 18 years after Mean Girls now she’s the one trying to give off “cool mom” vibes.

* Aaron Carter and fiancée Melanie Martin have split up. On Twitter, Carter wrote about his post-breakup feelings, saying, “I’m too scarred and I can’t trust any woman. So I’m going to protect my soul and my heart at this time.” The two women left who were interested in Aaron Carter are reportedly devastated.
* The Jonas Brothers have announced a five show Last Vegas residency. The quick run of shows will take place from June 3rd through the 11th at Dolby Live at Park MGM Las Vegas. With a residency in Vegas, it’s safe to say their fan base may now remove their purity rings.
* California’s Aftershock Festival, which will take place October 6th through 9th at Discovery Park in Sacramento, will be headlined by Foo Fighters, KISS, My Chemical Romance, and Slipknot. While the bands will provide the Aftershock, the initial shock for concert goers will be the ticket prices, which start at $399.99 for a four-day pass.

* The Encanto soundtrack notched a seventh nonconsecutive week at the top of the Billboard 200 chart, while the film’s song “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” is at #1 on the Hot 100 for a fifth week. Being a single male with no kids, I have heard none of the above.
* In a rare L for Foo Fighters, their haunted house comedy, Studio 666, tanked in its first week, only grossing an estimated $1.6 million from 2,306 theaters. I guess Dave Grohl has to hope that whole music thing pans out for him.
* Green Day, AJR, Yungblud, Bring Me to the Horizon, Louis Tomlinson, and Health are among the latest acts who have canceled their upcoming shows in Russia, while The Killers, and Iggy Pop decided to cancel their scheduled appearances at the Moscow Park Live Festival. The cancellations are a powerful stand against violence and tyranny. Of course, all of these acts still have their music on the streaming service of a company that’s had ties to child labor, and slave labor (*cough cough* Apple *cough cough*). Wait, was I not supposed to mention that?
That’s all for this edition of Pop Shots, but come back next Monday for more shots on all things pop.
