NYC Scene Report – Late Night Episode, KAYE, & more

This week’s NYC Scene Report features an alt-rock anthem from Late Night Episode, a pop tune from San Fermin frontwoman KAYE, something inspiring from alt-soul-pop artist Michael Blume, and the column debut of up and coming teenage soul-pop singer Sammi Rae Muciano.

* East Village alt-rockers Late Night Episode have released a new single, titled “Golden Age,” and it’s a f*cking anthem.

The band’s lead singer, Daniel Lonner, describes the song, which is dedicated to living life to the fullest, saying, “I wanted to remind people that even though the internet is a wonderful world of its own, 2017 is the most opportune time to be alive, and to live you have to get out and do shit.”

Crank this one up, and then get together with some friends and do something fun.

* Fans of NYC’s indie music scene are likely already familiar with KAYE, who, is best known as the frontwoman of San Fermin, the band with whom she’s toured the country, been featured on national TV, and performed at major festivals.

Last year KAYE released her debut solo EP, Honey, and now she’s ready to follow up that EP, as she’s hitting listeners with a brand new single titled “Cheshire Kitten.”

The song has a ‘90s pop/soul vibe, while still being decidedly modern. It’s a great feel for a song, and an equally great showcase for KAYE’s voice, and songwriting skills.

This “Cheshire Kitten” may not get your tongue, but it will certainly catch your ear.

* If you’re looking for a summery tune that’s sure to make you feel good, and inspire, look no further than Michael Blume’s “I Am Not A Trend (No Rules).”

On “I Am Not A Trend (No Rules),” the NYC alt-soul-pop artist is embracing doing his own thing, and the joy that comes with such individuality. Listening to the song, with its happy, triumphant, horns, and Blume’s self-confident sing-rapping, will make you realize that you doing your own thing will result in happiness, as well.

Forget the haters, detractors, and anyone else trying to sway you from your dreams. Click play on “I Am Not A Trend (No Rules)” and pass all those folks by with a smile on your face.

* Our next teen pop sensation could be coming straight outta Long Island. Her name is Sammi Rae Murciano, and at just 16 she’s already starting to create a buzz for herself with her covers of popular songs, as well as her original work, having recently toured the North East, and performed at Foxwoods, in CT.

Murciano discovered her love of singing when she earned a solo as a member of her school’s chorus. The spotlight called to her, as she remembers, “Being in front of everyone, performing, was an amazing feeling. I knew this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.”

Check out Murciano’s cover of James Arthur’s “Say You Won’t Let Go,” and when she ends up on MTV you’ll be able to say you heard her first (if you happen to mention you heard her first on Adam’s World, that would be pretty rad. Just sayin’).
