3 Reasons You Should See Anna Rose Live
Thursday, July 06, 2017

I’ve seen NYC-based blues rocker Anna Rose no less than half a dozen times over the years, most recently catching a performance of hers at Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2.

Every time I attend one of her shows, no matter the venue, it seems like she was born on the stage, with a guitar in her hands.

An undeniable talent, with a knack for defying the expectations of those who choose to judge a book by its cover, Rose has become a major part of the city’s indie music scene.

Here are three reason you should see Anna Rose live.

1. She Proves Size Doesn’t Matter

If you’ve never seen, or heard, Anna Rose before you may initially notice she’s small in stature, and wonder about her ability to truly rock out. After the first chords she plays, and the first notes she sings, however, you won’t wonder anymore, you’ll stand in amazement, and realize that when it comes to rocking out, size doesn’t matter.

Seeing people’s reactions the first time they hear Rose’s powerful vocals, and kick ass guitar skills, in person has become an enjoyable bonus when attending her shows. You can always spot the first timers, and the next time around, they’ll be able to spot the first timers, as well.

2. She Can Go From Badass to Ballads

Anna Rose can rock out with the best of them, but what might be even more impressive is that she can seamlessly go from a traditional rock song to a beautiful ballad, and have an equal impact with both.

This may be an aspect of her blues background shining through, as even in her least bluesy songs it’s still the backbone of her musical soul.

3. She Exudes Authenticity

All of Anna Rose’s songs have a personal nature to them, and during her performances she isn’t afraid to be open, and honest, with the crowd.

Whether it’s through her music, or through audience interaction, Rose invites the crowd to get to know her better with every song, and mic break, and it doesn’t take long to realize she is definitely someone you want to get to know.
