How many emcees can claim they “made a castle in the sand that has a Kitchen Aid?” My guess would be Vinnie Scullo is the only one. That boast appears on “JAY OBI,” which is off of Vinnie’s latest release, Velcro. “JAY OBI” features Vinnie rhyming at such a blistering pace, and with so much raw emotion, that he doesn’t feel the need to bother with a chorus. He does, however, have some words for the materialistic, saying “My woman gets all of her clothes at Target / And she looks way hotter than you hoes that shop at Prada and Coach,” and throws in a video game analogy when talking about the rap game, saying “I be thinking I'm the Missing Link / Y'all are just some Princesses thinking how much ya missing Link.” Yes, “JAY OBI” is another winner from Vinnie.
B-Listers are a select group of artists that were featured in my Artist Of The Week series that ran every Monday from April of '06 to April of '11. All of these artists have two things in common; extreme talent, and a flight path far too under the radar for my liking. They took on the title of B-Listers as they embraced being featured by me, Adam B. Check out the AOTW Archives for all the interviews.
