Hip-hop has given us songs about a wide array of topics, but fatherhood, especially new fatherhood, is one that’s been overlooked... until now. Illus and Headsnack (the latter of Regenerated Headpiece fame) have teamed up for “Daddy Duty,” which is off of Illus’ 2012 release Family First. The song features relatable content for a generation of hip-hop fans who have traded in going to the club for staying in and changing diapers, and the video has some crazy hip-hop puppetry. As hip-hop heads grow up, this is exactly the kind of music we need.
B-Listers are a select group of artists that were featured in my Artist Of The Week series that ran every Monday from April of '06 to April of '11. All of these artists have two things in common; extreme talent, and a flight path far too under the radar for my liking. They took on the title of B-Listers as they embraced being featured by me, Adam B. Check out the AOTW Archives for all the interviews.
