Vid Pick: Illus - Ready

Illus makes what I like to call grown up hip-hop for grown up listeners. No holds barred in his honesty on the mic, Illus is open about his feelings on the world today, and such normally taboo topics in hip-hop as love, family, and being a husband and father.

Off of his 2010 album Feel Good Music, which was produced entirely by J.J. Brown, “Ready” is a classic Illus song that's a call to action that inspires. Seriously, you can’t listen to this song and not want to go out and change the world. It’s pretty amazing. The video combines Illus’ loves of hip-hop and comic books with some gorgeous visuals to go with the positive lyrics. Check it out, and get ready for the first videos off of his Family First album, which should be coming soon.
