Weekend Highlights

What’s up my people? I just arrived home from an eventful weekend in the city and wanted to fill you in on some of the interesting things that happened. The highlights included:

- Seeing pro wrestling superstar Mick Foley exiting Toys R Us in Times Square with his kids (and quite a few large bags of gifts).

- Finding an Ace of Base Japanese import CD in the discount bin at the Virgin Megastore in Times Square. Whenever I see something like this I have to pick it up. The price was originally $31 and it on sale for $5. As of now on Amazon.com this version of the album goes for a whopping $46.98.

- Seeing a porno titled Grand Theft Anal in the very same store that I found the Ace of Base CD. Unlike the Ace of Base, CD, however, I did not purchase this particular product. Side Note - Does anyone else find it interesting that the Virgin Megastore puts all their porn right next to the bathrooms?

- Getting a Nerf basketball hoop for the krib. Not only does it bring back memories, but it's still one of the only hoops I can dunk on.

- Playing Xbox360 for the first time and in only my second game gaining 500+ yards receiving with one player in Madden ’09. Uh, yeah, someone’s a quick study (now if only I could figure out how to defend kickoffs).

- One of my buddy’s cats deciding I was the perfect jungle gym to climb on and eventually attempting to dine on the book I was reading (It’s Bigger Than Hip-Hop – The Rise of the Post-Hip-Hop Generation, by M.K. Asante, Jr.) when she felt I wasn’t paying enough attention to her.

- My buddy’s wife’s homemade nachos. Seriously, hands down, the best nachos ever!

FYI - Now that I've read more of that book I have to say I should have let the cat eat it, she was trying to do me a favor.

How someone can attempt to write a serious political book and not use footnotes is beyond me. Every other page I'm saying "well, where'd that fact come from?" or "says who?" Maybe it's the journalist in me, but I'm not just going to believe you remember quotes from Nixon, especially when you weren't alive when he was in office. A bibliography isn't enough in this case and the chance to create something potentially powerful was ruined.
