NYC Scene Report – MICHELLE, Sabrina Song, & Rob Roth

This week’s NYC Scene Report features MICHELLE hitting the road, Sabrina Song trying to have a “Good Night,” and Rob Roth finding someone who makes “Headlines.”

* NYC-based collective MICHELLE has created a really dope style of music all their own. A funky mix of R&B, synth pop, and jazz, it’s a groove that will keep you moving.

Right now live audiences across the country are moving to that groove, as MICHELLE is just finishing up a North American tour with Arlo Parks, and will be following it up by hitting the road again with Gus Dapperton in November. Next year they’ll be taking their groove overseas for a series of headlining dates beginning in Dublin, Ireland on February 5th.

Check out MICHELLE’s latest single, “Syncopate,” which is off their upcoming album, After Dinner We Talk Dreams, due out January 28th, 2022 via Canvasback Music in the U.S., and Transgressive in the U.K. It’s a song that will leave you feeling good!

* Inspired by nights out in Brooklyn over the summer, and the transition from a long period of isolation (thanks, global pandemic), Sabrina Song has released a fantastic indie pop single titled “Good Night.”

Discussing “Good Night” in a statement, Song said, “I find myself constantly stuck in my head, overthinking whether I’m having fun or not, or whether the people I’m with are enjoying my company. This single is about the desire to truly let go and allow yourself to just be present.”

* Indie singer-songwriter Rob Roth has found someone who makes “Headlines,” even if the person in question doesn’t fully realize it.

Discussing his single “Headlines” in a statement, Roth said, “(‘Headlines’) is a song about the person you love most who is naive to how beautiful and amazing they are. It’s that someone who, no matter the mood you are in, will always ‘illuminate’ you when they walk into a room. They are resistant to believing that they are incredible, and shy away from being the center of attention. Regardless of how much they try to not be in the spotlight, they are going to make ‘Headlines’ in your mind.”

A more mature version of One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful,” if we were still in the ‘90s, “Headlines” would have a spot on every mix-CD made for a significant other. I guess in 2021, that would be a playlist, right? With that being the modern move, Rob Roth should be getting a lot of plays from folks hoping to get together.
