NYC Scene Report – Mick’s Jaguar, Missyou, & more

This week’s NYC Scene Report features a blistering rock song from Mick’s Jaguar, dark alt-pop-rock from Missyou, indie rock from Active Bird Community, and a hip-hop track with an internet theme from Headsnack.

* You know what I like about NYC rockers Mick’s Jaguar? They seem to have one goal – to rock your face off.

Their music is the soundtrack to grimy rock n roll bars, with walls covered in graffiti, and bathrooms where you wouldn’t dare touch the toilet seat with any part of your body. Essentially, they’re exactly what rock n roll should be.

The band recently released a video for their latest single, “Blood on the Snow,” which is off their debut album, Fame and Fortune. They’ll be hitting the road in support of the album on their Escape From New York tour starting October 25th.

There’s no word on if the venues will be like the one I described, but they very well could be by the time the band leaves the stage. Check out “Blood on the Snow” and rock out to Mick’s Jaguar.

* NYC-based alt-pop-rock band Missyou have released a video for their latest single, “YourBody,” and both the song and the video toe the line between indie rock, and an AFI-like vibe, the result being a dark gem that will definitely have you clicking the replay button.

Missyou’s mission is to create music that has an emphasis on storytelling, and with “YourBody” – which is the title track of the band’s upcoming EP, due out later this month – they have, without a doubt, accomplished this mission. Check out the video and see, and hear, for yourself.

* Over the past few months Active Bird Community have become column favorites around here, and if you’re wondering why, just click play on the video for their latest single, “Sweaty Lake.”

A boisterous indie rock jam that will have you bouncing off the walls (in a good way) – or jumping on your bed, if you’re into that kind of thing. Hey, no one’s judging. You do you! – “Sweaty Lake” is the type of indie rock song that inspires good times.

The single is off their just released album, Amends, which the band is currently touring in support of through November 3rd.

Before you catch them in a city near you, check out “Sweaty Lake” right here.

* Hip-hop wordsmith Headsnack is known for creating songs that are equal parts quirky and thought provoking, and his latest single is all about cloud storage. I know, you may be thinking, “How on earth can that be cool?” Well, that’s what makes Headsnack so dope, with “Cloud Storage Wars” he’s made a song about cloud storage that’s both cool and catchy.

“Cloud Storage Wars” is off Headsnack’s upcoming album, Secret Handshake, which will be released later this week, and was crowdfunded through a PledgeMusic campaign that earned over 300% of his fundraising goal.

Will you enjoy “Cloud Storage Wars”? In a word – Yuuuuuup!
