“In the City” is a three for one deal when it comes to B-Listers. Warren Britt, YC The Cynic, and J.Monopoly all wax poetic about NYC and they do so in such a way as to, unlike many much more commercial songs about the city, show you they’re actually from there and live there. Far too often songs about New York sound like tourist brochures, but this trio of talented emcees give you the full story and in the process show why it’s such a unique spot that residents complain about, but in the end hold a special place for in their heart. It is quintessential New York.
